After the treble winners were whistled at against Bayer
Leverkusen, Neymar has defended his own performance
and says "the important thing was to win"
Neymar has bit back at Barcelona fans by suggesting
their whistling made it harder to overcome Bayer
Leverkusen on Tuesday.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos put the German visitors ahead
at Camp Nou, leading to crowd unrest, but late goals
from Sergi Roberto and Luis Suarez saw them rally to a
2-1 win.
With the injured Lionel Messi watching on, Barca
struggled and Neymar was below his best, but the Brazil
international was happy his side came away with a
victory - especially with their supporters having not
been on their side all game.
"Yes, it is difficult when the fans are not with us," he
told AS. "I'm very happy for the victory, but we
suffered a lot to win the match.
"The important thing was to win, and we did everything
to make goals and we won.
"I did my job. We have to know how to play without
Messi, and win so he is back with us in good shape."
Barcelona are top of Group E after two matchdays,
having drawn 1-1 at Roma in their opener.
Last season's European champions' following two
fixtures will be against Belarus' BATE, who surprisingly
defeated the Giallorossi on Tuesday.
