He did it! Roger Federer beat Philipp
Kohlschreiber in a thrilling tennis match at the
US Open on Sept. 5 to progress to the fourth
round of the Grand Slam event. Well done,
Roger!
Roger Federer , 34, and Philipp Kohlschreiber , 31, faced off
against each other in the third round of the US Open at the
USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York
on Sept. 5, and there could only be one winner. Congrats to
Roger, who was the winner by 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4!
The US Open is heating up, and Roger is ready to win!
Roger successfully (and easily) one-upped Philipp in the
first and second matches of the third round. Philipp started
to really fight back in the third match, but Roger ultimately
reigned supreme, beating Philipp 6-4.
Roger is ranked no. 2 in the US Open. His frequent
competitor, Novak Djokovic , is ranked no. 1. Will they meet
up in the finals? Time will tell!
On their path to the third round, Roger and Philipp have put
up a fight. Roger was almost untouchable, disposing of
Leonardo Mayer and Steve Darcis in straight sets with ease
in his matches. Philipp got a fright in the first round,
eventually overcoming Alexander Zverev 3-2. But then
things a little easier going against Lukas Rosol , whom he
bashed 3 sets to love.
This Year’s US Open Winner Set To Net A
Record $3.3 Million In Prize Money
Roger will be confident going into the next round and will
have to square off against the winner of the match between
John Isner and Jiri Vesely in round 4. Good luck in that
match — it should be a classic.
Last year’s US Open winner, Marin Cilic, is still in the hunt
for the trophy and will be hoping to defend his crown to
receive as much as $3.3 million in prize money!
