The Arsenal playmaker created three chances in the first half of Sunday’s match against Sunderland, none of which were scored, as he collected a record haul of key passes
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil may still be waiting to break Thierry Henry’s long-standing assists record, but he is now the most prolific creator in Premier League history.
The German set up three chances in the first 45 minutes of Sunday’s match at Sunderland, none of which were taken by his profligate team-mates, taking his haul of chances created this season to 135.
Incredibly, only two other players – West Ham’s Dimitri Payet (102) and Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen (105) – have hit triple figures this season.
Ozil’s haul means that he has now created more chances in a single Premier League season than any other player since Opta began recording data in the 2003-04 season – and they still have three games left to play this season!
