Well, that was awkward. During the
Aug. 31 season premiere of ‘Fashion Police,’
guest co-host Margaret Cho poked fun at Miley
Cyrus’ VMAs dreads, while also referencing
Giuliana Rancic’s infamous Zendaya joke. You
know, the one that almost got the show
cancelled earlier this year.
The August 31 season premiere of Fashion Police was full
of so many controversial jokes. First, they fueled Taylor
Swift and Katy Perry’s feud by suggesting the “Wildest
Dreams” singer probably wants to see Katy’s “head in a
box.” Then, guest co-host Maragaret Cho brought up
Giuliana Rancic ‘s controversial joke about Zendaya ‘s
Oscars hair, while taking a jab at Miley Cyrus ‘ VMAs
dreads.
In the last five minutes of the season premiere, Margaret
started criticizing Miley Cyrus’ VMAs red carpet look. First,
she said, “It looks like she got in a fight with duct tape
and a chandelier. And the bitch won.” And then when the
topic of Miley’s hair came up, Margaret said, “That hair
looks like it smells like weed and patchouli oil.” Clearly, she
was referencing the whole Zendaya controversy. If you’ll
recall, Giuliana was blasted for being racist in early 2015
when she said Zendaya’s dreads at the Oscars likely
smelled like weed. It caused a big controversy and co-host
Kelly Osbourne left the show because of it. So when
Margaret Cho made the joke during the Aug. 31 episode,
Giuliana just buried her face in a pillow out of
embarrassment. Or she just didn’t want to be caught
laughing.
Whether or not you found the joke to be awkward, fans
seemed to love it. See what they said on Twitter below.
YES Thank god @margaretcho brought up

‘Fashion Police’: Margaret Cho Disses Miley Cyrus’ Dreads After Zendaya Controversy
Buhari is a Northern President - Fayose
Press statement from the Ekiti state governor
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said
President Mohammadu Buhari was operating as a
president of the Northern Nigeria only, describing
steps taken by the president since May 29, 2015 as
tainted in ethnic and tribal colouration, which is
inimical to the unity of Nigeria.
The governor, who descried what he called President
Buhari’s “Nothernisation of Nigeria,” said “appointments
made by the President so far negate the principle of
federal character and it appears the unity in diversity of
Nigeria is being taken for granted by the President.”
According to a statement issued on Monday, by his Special
Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere
Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it was wrong for President
Buhari to have made 31 major appointments and only
seven will come from the South while 24 were from the
North.
He asked; “Under Buhari, are people from Southern
Nigeria only meant to be hounded and harassed by anti-
corruption agencies and the Department of State Security
(DSS) while those from the North are meant to enjoy
federal government juicy appointments?”
The governor said “apart from lopsided appointments
being made by the President, I am worried that
construction of Lagos-Ibadan expressway has been slowed
down while work has stopped on Lokoja-Abuja roads, which
are the major roads linking the Southern part of Nigeria
with the North.
“Also, we have been told by the Federal Government that
the Second Niger Bridge project has been suspended and
one is now beginning to remember how Buhari cancelled the
Lagos Metroline Project in 1985 at a loss of over $78 million
(then) to the Lagos tax payers.”
Governor Fayose, who maintained that Nigeria can only
move forward if there was equity and fairness, said those
who made the country’s constitution and enshrined the
principle of Federal Character were mindful of the ethnic
diversity of the country, adding that President Buhari’s
running Nigeria as if he was a Northern Nigeria’s President
was not in the interest of the country.
“They said the President made the appointments on merit
and I wish to ask whether there are no competent people in
the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southern part of
Nigeria, especially South-East where no one has been
appointed.
“Are they saying Igbo leader like Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, who
graduated with a first class honours degree in Chemical
Engineering at the University of Lagos, is not competent to
be appointed as Secretary to the Government of the
Federation (SGF)?
“To my mind, these lopsided appointments skewed in
favour of the North is a reminder of President Buhari’s
tenure as Military Head of State and I hope the President
is not seeing Nigeria of today as that of 1984 because doing
so will mean that he has turned himself to a northern
president, thereby justifying his notion that those who gave
him 97 percent votes must get more benefits than those who
gave him five percent votes.”
Outrage as mom who forgot her 4 month old son in a grocery store is charged
Outrage as mom who forgot her 4 month
old son in a grocery store is charged
Cherish Peterson, a mother of four young kids, said she was
horrified to realize she drove off from a grocery store in
Arizona last week without her two-month-old son and since
then, there's been a roller coaster reaction on social
media.
The incident happened in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert, on
a day when the high temperature was 104 degrees.
Peterson returned to the grocery store to look for her baby
after about 40 minutes. She didn't notice he was missing
until she had driven all the way home.
"As I was pulling into the garage, my 3-year-old-
goes, 'Where is baby Huxton?' I turned around and
looked and realized he was gone," Peterson said.
She said she was distracted by two of her other kids and
forgot her son, who was still in the cart.
"Normally, I put my cart away, but I didn't need to
because I parked at the front of the store, and I
never park there. And I drove away," Peterson
said.
An off-duty police officer found the infant and took him
inside a nearby Supercuts.
Huxton was checked out at a hospital before being
returned to his parents.
"I'm a good mom who made a horrible mistake,"
she said. Police believed it was an accident, but the
internet was not as forgiving.
People questioned the 28-year-old mom's parenting skills
and wondered if alcohol or drugs were involved. There were
also comparisons to the treatment of Shanesha Taylor, an
unemployed Phoenix mother who in May was sentenced to
18 years probation for leaving her two sons inside her SUV
during a job interview.
"People went crazy thinking that I should have my
child taken out of my home and they should have
never given me my baby back and I should be in
prison right now," Peterson said. "Nothing they can
say can make me feel worse than I did in that
moment I turned around and saw my car seat
missing."
The next day, police said they would recommend a
misdemeanor charge of child endangerment against
Peterson, which sparked another backlash.
The hashtag #IStandWithCherish trended on US Twitter
and more than 16,000 people joined a Facebook group to
support her.
"There is nothing I love more in this world than
being a mom, and there is no one in this world that
can love my kids more than me," Peterson said.
"But you know what? I count my blessings because
my baby was OK."
Peterson's husband said they are grateful to the off-duty
police officer and first responders who took good care of
their son, but he also believes public pressure forced the
police department's hand.
The prosecutor will now decide whether to move forward
with the misdemeanor charge against Peterson.
Peterson's husband Nathan Peterson rushed to his wife's
defense.
''I married the best, in terms of the mother and wife
Cherish is to me and our children,' he said.
'A mistake was made, and we learned, but we're not
perfect. We're not perfect. But we love our family and we
love our children and we are grateful that everything is
okay.'
'It's hard when you can't shield your beloved wife and
family from hateful and judgmental things,' he added.
Cherish has since been charged with a misdemeanor charge
of child endangerment to the town prosecutor by Gilbert
Police Dept.

Indian sister sentenced to rape after brother ran off with a married woman reveals her terrifying ordeal
One of two sisters sentenced to be raped in India after
their brother ran off with a married woman from a higher
caste has spoken out about her fear.
Meenakshi Kumari, 23, has described how she has been
unable to sleep or leave the house for fear of the village
elders - who sentenced her and her 15-year-old sister to
rape – sending someone to deliver the punishment.
"I can’t sleep, I’m very scared. How will we ever
return home or to our village? If we ever return
they will harm us or rape us. If not today then in
the future. ’ she said from a secret location in
Delhi, 30 miles from their village Sankrot, in Uttar
Pradesh, India.
'Jats never forget and they will not forget this humiliation.
They want their revenge. Loving someone is not wrong.’
Meenakshi and her little sister were with their family in
Delhi for a wedding when a neighbour called and told them
not to return to their village.
The neighbour warned that the un-elected village council,
Khap panchayat, dominated by the upper caste 'Jat' men,
had ordered the two sisters be raped and paraded naked
with their faces blackened as punishment for their
brother's actions.
Their brother, Ravi Kumar, 25, from the Dalit caste -
historically known as 'untouchables' - had been in a
relationship with 21-year-old Krishna from the Jat caste
for almost two years.
When both families discovered the relationship, they did all
they could to keep the two lovers apart.
The siblings' older brother Sumit Kumar, 28, who works as a
constable in the Delhi Police, told his younger brother to end
the relationship immediately, as they would never be
together.
'We belong to a lower caste, they are from an upper caste,'
he said.
'I told him this relationship could never work. We are
treated as untouchables but he didn't listen to me and now
we are paying for it.'
Ravi met Krishna two years ago, when she joined his
computer classes for children in Khekada, Uttar Pradesh.
They exchanged phone numbers and quickly fell in love.
They were on the phone to each other all the time and
arranged covert meetings in secret locations.
But when Ravi's father Naik Dharampal Singh, 52, heard of
the relationship he ordered it to end immediately.
Even though Ravi ended the relationship, the pair couldn't
bear to be apart.
Eventually Krishna's parents started looking for
prospective husbands for her but she refused.
‘It was hard for my brother but he understood the
situation,’ Sumit said.
‘Her family knew about their relationship before the
marriage. They beat their daughter a lot and gave my
brother warnings many times.
'In the end my brother told her to go ahead with the
marriage, she had to. She went ahead with the marriage in
Haryana but she was very unhappy. They treated her like
a maid.
'So she left and returned home. And that’s when she and
my brother started their relationship again.’
Ravi and Krishna had eloped twice before but had
returned. Each time Sumit claimed her family beat her.
We made him understand it was dangerous. At the end of
the day it’d be our family who would suffer. He understood
what he was doing, he knew the risks but love took over.
'When the girl got in touch with him he just couldn’t contain
his emotions. We are now helpless. His future is ruined
completely and our family is in danger.’
Krishna’s family was so furious that the couple had eloped
again they told the police Ravi was involved with drugs.
When they were caught in Delhi at the end of May, Ravi was
arrested and has been in Meerut Jail ever since.
Meenakshi and her family were already in Delhi when a
neighbour called them to tell them it’s not safe to return to
their village called Baghpat, in Uttar Pradesh, 30 miles
from Delhi. It has approximately 250 Dalits compared to
7,000 Jats.
Meenakshi said: ‘My father got a call from a neighbour
and told us not to come back. They said that the Khap
panchayat – that are all Jats - took the decision to rape
my sister and me and parade us naked. They want
revenge.
‘It is wrong. We did nothing wrong so why should my sister
and me be punished. They loved each other and it is they
who decided to go. Why should we suffer?
'We have not left the house, as we are scared they might
send someone to attack us. I am finding it very difficult to
cope. I am very scared.
'People today are still living in the caste system; it’s the
root of everything here. Right now I do not have any hopes,
our future is ruined.’

Buhari never promised he was going to do anything in 100 days- Lai Mohammed
APC national spokesperson, Lai Mohammed this morning on
Channels TV said President Buhari never promised to do
anything within his 1st 100 days in office.
"Buhari never promised to do anything in 100 days,
that's the honest truth. You see, when you are
running a campaign, all kinds of literature will
emerge from all sorts of groups but I came here
and I said there are only just two documents that
you can judge a party with. that is the constitution
of the party and the manifesto of the party. Those
are the only two documents that are registered with
INEC you can go to court on or hold a party
accountable for" he said
His statement comes a few days after presidential
spokesperson, Shehu Garba released a statement
distancing President Buhari from two documents tagged
"One Hundred Things Buhari Will Do in 100 Days" and the
other, "My Covenant With Nigerians.". The documents had
a list of promises President Buhari and APC during their
campaign, vowed to fulfill within his 1st 100 days in office
if elected.
The statement in part reads "
"Both pamphlets bore the authorized party logo but
as the Director of Media and Communications in
that campaign, I did not fund or authorize any of
those. I can equally bet my last Kobo that
Candidate Buhari did not see or authorize those
publications. As a consequence of these publications,
expectations have been raised unreasonably, that
as President, Muhammadu Buhari will wave his
hand and all the problems that the country faces-
insecurity, corruption, unemployment, poor
infrastructure would go away. But that
notwithstanding, President Buhari has given the job
his best shot and the whole country is saying that we
never had it so good. He has re-instituted the
values of hard work and administrative efficiency.
The President says times without number that this
country needs to fix governance and that he won't
tolerate laziness".

Pakistan, India disagree over detained Nigerian students' intentions
The Pakistani and Indian High Commissioners to Nigeria
have disagreed over reports that the two Nigerian students
that were arrested in India are on their way to join the
terrorist group, Islamic State of Syria and Iraq.
While the Indian High Commissioner, Ajjampur
Ghanashyam, insisted that the two youths from Kano,
Imran Kabeer and Sani Jamiliu, were on their way to
Pakistan to join ISIS, his Pakistani counterpart, Lt. Gen.
Agha Farooq (retd.), described the report as false.
Farooq stated that India was being mischievous, noting
that the students could not possibly breach the Indian/
Pakistani borders which he said was fortified with armed
soldiers, underground mines and electrified barbed wire.
He said the allegation against the two youths was an
attempt to demonise them “just because they are Nigerian
Muslims.”
Ghanashyam in an interview he said his mission “now thinks
twice before issuing student visas to Nigerians.”
According to him, the high commission is worried that
radicalised Nigerian students in India may abandon their
studies and travel out to join ISIS, adding that no fewer
than 5,900 Nigerian students are schooling in India and
about 30,000 Nigerians had graduated from various
tertiary institutions in the country.
When asked if the high commission had changed its visa
requirements since the arrest of the two Nigerians,
Ghanashyam said it had not, adding however that the
mission is more careful about visa issuance to applicants.
He stated that between 10 and 15% applicants were given
visas, noting that the mission would take drastic measures
to ensure that Nigerian students returned home after
completing their education.
Ghanashyam said:
“Visa requirements have been on the web, everybody
knows, but you see, you can’t locate the mind of a
man to find out what his intentions are. If he has
an admission letter from our school, and you have
seen it with your own eyes, then you will give them
visas, but now you have to think twice.
“You don’t know, but now we believe we are taken
for a ride, but now you have to go back and tell
them to look after these boys and girls and make
sure they don’t go out here and there, to make sure
they finish their course and board a plane to go
back to Nigeria.
“The mission will be more careful. Usually, we give
visas to about 10 to 15 per cent of applicants and
this may further be reviewed.”
In regards to the arrest of the two youths, the envoy said
that they were issued visas because they tendered the
necessary documents including letters of admission from
an Indian institution.
He said:
“These two boys from Kano said they wanted to
study in Bangalore, we believed them and gave
them student visas. They went to Bangalore last
September. They spent one year, then they decided
to go to ISIS, and they were trapped near the
Pakistani border.
“I hope they are the exception and aberration, not
the trend. I hope it would be the last of their kind.
We have an association of close to 30,000 Nigerians
who have graduated from India and we have 5,900
of students who are studying in India, it is quite
worrying that if they go to India and from there,
they go to ISIS, we would have a big issue on our
hands.”
But the Pakistani ambassador dismissed the allegations
against Kabeer and Jamiliu who are being detained by the
police in Punjab, India.
Farooq, who displayed pictures of the Indian/Pakistani
borders during an interview on Friday in Abuja, said that
it was practically impossible for the two students to join
ISIS by going through Pakistan because they would have to
pass through three countries to reach Syria, whereas they
could easily enter Syria by air through Turkey or by sea.
He said:
“From the pictures of the borders, you can see that
there is no way the students could enter Pakistan
from India because the border is well guarded with
soldiers and other high-tech gadgets and it is
controlled by India.
“The report that the Nigerian students were going to
join ISIS is a hoax; how come it was reported by
only Indian media? They just want to demonise the
students because they are Nigerian Muslims.”

Kanye West Announces He’s Running For President In 2020 After MTV Diss
President Kanye West? The
outspoken artist was rewarded for his
spectacular career accepting the Michael
Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2015
MTV VMAs. But instead of thanking the
network and his supporters for the honor — he
announced he’s running for president!
Kanye West , 38, was the man of the night receiving the
Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 MTV
VMAs at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on
Aug. 30. But as always, the rapper, songwriter, record
producer and fashion designer turned what could have
been a nice moment into a completely upside down,
somewhat upsetting spectacle dissing MTV and award
shows while announcing his plans to run for president!
This was a big night for Kanye as even his arch nemesis
Taylor Swift paid tribute to him, presenting the award.
And Kanye, who recieved the “MTV Man of the Year”
award in 2010, accepted it just like we would expect him to
— with drama and controversy. After a standing ovations
that lasted for close to 5 minutes, the superstar wasted no
time acknowledging Taylor for being there for him.
(Remember when he interrupted Taylor’s Video Music
Awards acceptance speech in 2009)
But from there things got weird. The outspoken musician
seemed to be at a loss for words at first, as he explained
why he voiced his opinions in the past. But instead of
apologizing to people he’s offended like Taylor and Beck,
he turned the blame on MTV and award shows in general
for not acknowledging deserving artists like Justin
Timberlake and Cee Lo.
The crowd seemed more than a little confused by Kanye’s
rant with a smattering of boos coming from the audience.
But the real shock came when the “Gold Digger” and “Jesus
Walks” singer ended his rambling speech announcing he is
running for president! Say what? While this was likely just
more bluster coming from Kanye, we along with
Taylor, were shocked!
What do you think HollywoodLifers , were you impressed or
disappointed with Kanye’s speech?

VMAs: Fans Freak That Kim Kardashian Will Be First Lady
Kanye West shocked fans when he
announced he was running for president at the
VMAs and now people are freaking out that his
wife Kim Kardashian could be the next First
Lady!
The only thing that could be more shocking than Kanye
West , 38, becoming President of the United States is
seeing Kim Kardashian, 34, become the First Lady! After
Kanye announced he would run for president while
accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at
the 2015 MTV VMAs on Aug. 30, fans sounded off
on Twitter. Check out what they said!
A reality star First Lady? That would really be a first. We
have to say the thought of Kanye and Kim heading to
Washington D.C. is a bit hard to believe. Even stars like
Taylor Swift , who presented Kanye with his awards were
shocked at his rant. Although we are sure Kim would make
the White House incredibly stylish, some fans were not so
convinced. Here’s what they said!
Justin Bieber Has Sexy Makeout & Gets Kidnapped In ‘What Do You Mean’ Video
Justin Bieber’s ‘WDYM’ music video
is here, and it’s SO HOT. We saw from the
teaser it was going to be a mini-film, but had
no idea he’d get kidnapped — and have to save
his girl’s life. Watch the ‘What Do You Mean’
video here.
What do you get when you mix Justin Bieber, Xenia Deli ,
and John Leguizamo ? Well, Justin’s video for “What Do You
Mean?” Right after performing it (and crying) at the MTV
Video Music Awards, he dropped the video, and it’s
definitely our new favorite.
So let me attempt to break down this music video, which
was more like a film than a music video. In the ver
beginning, Justin, 21, is standing in the rain with John and
given a lighter. Then Justin goes into a sketchy hotel room,
has a really hot hook up with model Xenia Deli, 25, and
then they get kidnapped.
Later on, while in a trunk together, he uses the lighter to
burn through the rope that has tied their wrists together,
and escape, and head to a skate party where John is,
wearing the same mask as the men who kidnapped them.
Alright then!
Justin Is Back
It’s pretty clear that Justin has officially made a
comeback — when he dropped “What Do You Mean?” on
August 28, everyone knew it . And maybe even before that.
Then at the VMAs on Aug. 30, he actually blew everyone
away with his performance.
It was the first time he took the stage singing the new song
— and yes, he actually choked up at the end after flying
through the audience. Flying and crying. If that’s not a
comeback, I don’t know what is. I”d advise watching the
performance, it was definitely a good one.
Do you love Justin’s video, HollywoodLifers ?

Nicki Minaj calls host Miley Cyrus a bitch on stage at the VMAs!
While accepting the award for Best Hip-Hop video, Nicki
Minaj made it a point to call out the emcee of the event in
Los Angeles for some comments she had made just days
later.
The 32-year-old rapper hit out at Miley toward the end of
her speech as she said: 'And now back to this b**** that
had a lot to say to me in the press. What's good?'
22-year-old Miley who was standing on a different
platform on-stage replied by saying: 'We are all in this
industry, we all do interviews and we all know how to
manipulate. Nicki congratulations.'
Nicki was referring to Miley's recent interview with the New
York Times newspaper where the host commented on Nicki's
recent social media beef as she said: 'What I read sounded
very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too
kind. It's not very polite.
'I think there's a way you speak to people with openness
and love,' she said.
'You don't have to start this pop star against pop star war.
It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the
story isn't even on what you wanted it to be about.'
Church members chase pastor from church for impregnating maid
There was commotion on Sunday at the United Methodist
Church, Mafoluku, in the Oshodi area of Lagos as members
of the church chased away their pasto for allegedly
impregnating his housemaid.
It was learnt that the pastor, Barkuma Andrew, was
stopped from leading the church seven months ago when
the housemaid, who was also a member of the church,
Grace, had complications after aborting the pregnancy.
Andrew had lived with his wife, children, wife’s cousin,
Favour, and Grace in a three-bedroomed flat on the
church premises before the incident.
It was gathered that the members had petitioned the
Central Conference of the church in Taraba State to
investigate the alleged accusation.
Then sought the service of another pastor three weeks ago
when the district reportedly failed to probe Andrew.
At 10 am on Sunday, members of the church showed up for
Sunday service only to see that Andrew and some
“unknown” people had commenced the service.
This angered the congregation which proceeded to chase
out Andrew and his group from the church.
Men from the Makinde Police Division, including the DPO,
were said to have intervened after the incident was
reported at the station.
A member of the church and a former secretary to Andrew,
Moses Sherima, said that the pastor sent his wife to her
village after he impregnated Grace.
He said:
“My room is opposite pastor’s apartment and I was
his secretary. When he started dating that girl
(Grace), I called his wife’s cousin, Favour, on the
matter. She said Grace used to tell her whenever
the pastor had sex with her.
“At a point, I had to move upstairs when I could no
longer bear it. The day that abortion happened, I
was sleeping inside my room when I heard Grace
screaming. I rushed there and saw blood coming out
from her private parts. When the wife came back
from one of her numerous journeys, he told her to
send Favour away.”
Another church member, John Komboroh, said the church
was embarrassed by Andrew’s conduct, adding that they
were tired of his leadership.
He said:
“The petition of adultery against the pastor had
been sent to the bishop at the Central Conference.
He came here, but did not do anything about it.
That was why we wrote to the main body, the
Southern Conference to give us another pastor. His
(Andrew’s) action is an embarrassment to us. We
don’t want him again.”
The new pastor of the church, Reverend James Sunday,
said,:
“We were about to start our service this morning
when we met the old pastor and some unknown
people already holding the service. I calmed down
my people to avoid chaos.”
Another resident and a female member, who identified
herself only as Blessing, said the pastor had once made
sexual advances to her.
“My husband is not always at home. The pastor
would call me in the night and asked if I had slept.
One day he entered my room and gave me a soft
slap on my back. I had only the wrapper on me.
“I was surprised and told my neighbours.”

Presidency replies former Ministers under GEJ's administration, says anti- corruption fight is non negotiable
The presidency has released a statement replying former
Ministers who worked in Jonathan's administration. In a
statement released this evening, the former ministers had
asked the Buhari led govt to be sincere in its fight against
corruption and not use it as a tool for political witch
hunting. In a statement signed by the Senior Special
Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba
Shehu, the presidency said the war against corruption is
not a personal one nor a means of political witch hunting
and that the fight is not negotiable and does not have
friend nor foe.
The statement in part reads
In this regard that there is no witch hunt or malice
against anyone in the pursuit of the county’s stolen
assets still stand . This war against corruption knows
no friend nor foe. There is no intention to deny
anyone of their good name where they are entitled
to it and that President Buhari reserves the highest
regards for the country’s former leaders including
Dr Jonathan Goodluck who he continues to praise to
the high heavens for the way and manner in which
he accepted defeat in the last election. That
singular action remains a feat that has earned the
former president and Nigeria as country befitting
commendations all over the world, the latest coming
from Mr Ban Ki-Moon, the Secretary-General of
the United Nations who visited a week ago. For the
purpose of emphasis, the issue of fighting
corruption by President Buhari is non negotiable. It
is sine qua non to the overall reconstruction of the
economy and social systems which suffered
destruction and severe denigration under the last
administration. President Buhari will not be
deterred or blackmailed into retreat and
surrender. No one in the PDP can accuse President
Buhari of undermining the economy when all they
handed over to him is at best, was a tottering
economy hobbled by corruption and the absence of
due process. Things have become worsened by the
continuing fall of oil prices, which is expected to
fall even further with the imminent full return of
Iran to the market. All he has been doing while
around is to put things together, organizing to
defeat Boko Haram, paying outstanding salaries,
cleaning up the mess left behind, improving security
and restoring our relationships with neighbors and
the world. So what are former ministers afraid of
in these things? Have they become a new trade
union? Let this collection of ex-VIPs allow the
President the peace he needs to handle the
reconstruction of the economy and the nation in a
manner that most serves Nigeria’s best interests.
President Buhari does not need these types of
distraction presented by the so-called association
of former ministers.”
Boko Haram suicide bomb coordinator, other frontline members arrested by DSS
The Department of Security Service has arrested 21 alleged
commanders and front-line members of the Boko Haram
terrorist group including the group's suicide bomb attacks

2 children allegedly doused in petrol by their father
Two children who were taken to hospital after their father
allegedly doused them in petrol and set their sister alight
in the Perth suburb of Doubleview have been discharged
from hospital.
A seven-year-old girl was burned when her younger sister
was allegedly lit on fire by 43-year-old Edward John
Herbert at a house in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It is alleged Herbert poured petrol on the three-year-old
girl while she was lying in her cot in the middle of the night.
An off-duty police officer who lives opposite the house
rushed to the scene and found the younger girl alight.
She remains in a critical but stable condition in Princess
Margaret Hospital (PMH) with burns to her face and upper
body.
The seven-year-old girl was discharged from PMH on
Sunday.
The third child, a six-year-old boy, was not burnt and has
also been discharged from hospital.
Police had earlier said he was being cared for by family.
Herbert made a brief appearance in Perth Magistrates
Court on Saturday in connection with the incident.
He did not plead to five charges, including one count of
aggravated grievous bodily harm and two counts of
attempted grievous bodily harm.
Herbert is also alleged to have been armed with a knife
during the incident.
He was shirtless, incoherent and humming to himself during
his court appearance, and was held up by two officers and
unable to respond to the charges due to his mental state.

24 year old mother dumps new born baby in a nylon bag on the street
According to Mr and Mrs Osarhiakhi Ebohon, on June 13,
2015, a baby was dumped at Obazuaye Street in Evbuareke
Quarters, Uselu, Benin City, at about 11am.
Residents saw a newborn baby wrapped in a black nylon
bag. The Ebohons, among other residents, placed curses on
whoever might have thrown the child away.
The police was invited to take away the baby who was later
sent to the Ministry of Women Affairs in Edo State.
That night, Mrs. Ebohon observed that their oldest
daughter, Joy, was acting different, so she tried to find
out what her daughter’s problem was, to no avail.
So she told the husband to probe Joy to know what
the problem was.
At about 5am the following day, Mr Ebohon woke Joy up
and forcibly asked her to tell him the cause of her unease.
Joy then opened up to her parents that she was the one
who dumped the child on the street.
Her angry father went to the police to report the matter.
Mr Ebohon then handed over the daughter to the police for
prosecution.
She was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Benin by
the police on June 17 and was remanded in Oko prisons
pending advice from the state Director of Public
Prosecution (DPP) on the matter.
Now, Mr and Mrs Ebohon are appealing for the release of
the daughter whose first son is barely two years old.
Narrating the incident, Ebohon, a farmer, said:
“I decided to go to the village to farm because of
the difficulty to get money to train my children. My
daughter, Osarhiakhi Joy, in jail now, left
secondary school some years back. She is my eldest
daughter and she is 28 years old.
About five years ago, she wrote her SSCE and
passed all her papers and got admission into the
College of Education, Ekiadolor, but I couldn’t pay
the fees. I begged her to be patient till some other
time. Before I knew it, she became pregnant. I
called the boy responsible and told him that I
didn’t want any stupid act and asked if he was
going to marry her and he said yes.
Then I told him the condition that my daughter
wanted to further her education by studying
pharmacy and he said okay. So she gave birth to the
first child, a boy, who is about two years now. After
that, she told me she couldn’t be staying at home,
that she wanted to learn a trade before gaining
admission and pending when the husband, or
myself would be financially okay to send her back
to school. I said it was okay. That is how she started
learning fashion designing.
She told her husband to come and beg me so that,
at times, she could be staying with me because her
place of work is closer to us and they don’t have
their personal house. That is how she stated living
with us again. I never knew she was pregnant this
second time because I don’t stay in Benin; even the
mother that stays in Benin never knew about it. I
didn’t know she will be this clever to cover-up
without our notice. “On June13, I came to Benin
from the village to relax.
I discovered people were shouting that they
discovered a baby very close to my compound. I
never had the belief that it was my daughter who
gave birth to the baby. I was taking my siesta that
afternoon when I woke up and ran to the place and
I had been hearing the cry of a little baby thinking
it was the next compound. I and my wife were
among the first person to place curse on the culprit.
I was the same person who organized to go call the
police that what the person did was bad.
“The next day when I was ready to go back to the
village, my wife called me to say I should ask our
daughter that the way she was looking at her, there
were changes in her. Then I called my daughter at
about 5 am and told her to tell me the truth so that
I could help her. That was when she told me that
she was the one, I was about to collapse but as a
man I controlled myself and asked her who was
responsible for the pregnancy. She said it was the
husband though they are not married.
When I asked her why she behaved that way, she
said when she told her husband about the
pregnancy, he told her to go and abort it. She said
she wanted to tell me but didn’t know what
confused her. I was annoyed and took her hand to
the chief security officer in my street to arrest her
and let her suffer for what she has done so that
others will learn from her.
Then I took my bag and left for the village because
I was having an appointment that morning with
some people that are going to work in my farm.
“The same day, they called the police and handed
her over to them.
She was detained at Textile Mill Police Station with
her mother. When I heard about it, I didn’t care
because what she did, I was not happy with it. Since
then she has been in custody. It was later I heard
that she was remanded in Oko prisons after the
Evboriaria Magistrate Court said it was not in the
position to handle the case as it is within the
jurisdiction of the High Court. So they sent the file
to the DPP.
I said I wouldn’t be part of the case but it was later
that people were begging me to realize that my
daughter is not a wayward child; that something
must have happened. Maybe the way the husband
threatened her must have made her do it and she
knows I don’t tolerate nonsense because I told her
to be very careful as marriage is for better for
worse.
Then I called the husband and asked if he was
responsible for the baby, and he said no. I called
the two sisters of the man and told them to ask
their brother if he is the one. They started saying
that their brother was not the father of the child,
that he was ready to go anywhere for a test, that
even the first child, he was not sure if he is the
father, that he had to do a test before he could
accept him.
In fact the boy said we should go to Ayelala (native
doctor) to find out that he was not the father of
the child. Now I have so much pity for my daughter
who already has a two-year-old son with us. I want
her released. I had to act the way I did because
what she did was bad. But I have realized that my
daughter has learnt from her mistakes.
We are going to take care of the child. People should
realize that I am not a bad person; if I am, I would
not have informed the police to arrest her. The
child is at the orphanage home now. We will accept
the baby if my daughter is released. I am begging
the authorities”. Asked if she was not aware that
her daughter was pregnant, Mrs Ebohon said, “ I
was not aware of the pregnancy and I don’t know
how she kept the pregnancy that I was not aware.
The first one, I was the one that detected it but
this one she hid it from me. She told me that the
husband is the cause of everything because she
wanted to go to school when she got admission into
the college of education. Because we didn’t have
money, she couldn’t go to school, that is how the boy
hooked her. After the father informed the police,
they came to arrest us and took statement from me
and her; fromTextile Mill Police Station, she was
taken to Esigie Police Station.
She was there for some weeks and I have been going
to see her and people were saying it was not her
fault; she even said it was the husband who
frustrated her that she had to hid it from us.
Though we were annoyed of what she did, people
were begging us to pardon her that it is not her
fault since she she was not able to take care of the
first one. In fact she had that baby on June 13 but
the child was discovered on June 16.
When we even went to the Ministry of Women
Affairs to see the child, they said they will not allow
us to see her.
My daughter is in prison now crying and begging God
to forgive her, and release her to unite with her
baby. She insists on going back to school if the
opportunity comes”.
It was a pitiable sight when Sunday Vanguard, in the
company of her parents, visited Joy at Oko prisons; she
wept uncontrollably when she saw her son. Asked why she
decided to throw away the child, she narrated:
“I was frustrated because my husband threatened
that if I didn’t remove the pregnancy, he will not
accept it. And I was afraid of telling my parents
because my father will not take it lightly with me.
What happened was that I went to the toilet to
have my bath. As I was bathing, I entered into
labour, the child came out smoothly. I was confused
on what to do. I got a nylon bag around, quickly
poured water on my body to clean up the blood. I
rushed out of the bedroom, walked down the street
and quietly dropped the child on the ground and
came back home”.
Asked how she felt when people were placing curses on her,
she said:
“I was feeling very bitter inside me. I wept without
people knowing why I was crying. It was because of
my condition that my mother started suspecting
me.
I was scared on what to do because my father will
not be happy with me that my husband rejected the
baby, while my husband warned me he will not
accept the child if I kept it.
And I didn’t really want to abort the baby. I have
prayed God to forgive me, people should forgive
and allow me go and take care of my baby.
Poverty caused this problem for me, if not I would
not have met this man. But God will judge him for
rejecting this child that is his blood”.

Amaechi fires back: Wike also corrupt,
I won’t appear before his commission
Former Governor of Rivers State, Gov. Amaechi spoke,
yesterday, in Port Harcourt, while addressing loyalists of
the All Progressives Congress, APC that he was in the Rivers
State capital to quietly attend a church program and will
leave same day, adding that he had clear documents
pointing at the alleged corruption acts of Governor Wike.
Amaechi vowed never to appear before the Justice George
Omereji Commission of Inquiry investigating alleged sale
of the assets of the state by his government, insisting that
the establishment of the commission did not comply with
constitutional provisions, that he will only appear before a
properly constituted commission in the state.
He said:
“I have been listening while in Abuja to Nyesom
Wike accusing me of corruption and I laugh. Even
Nyesom Wike knows that I don’t like money, he
knows that”.
“The pressure Wike is putting on us is to let
somebody call us together to a meeting to withdraw
our case challenging his election from court.. The
party has a right to go to court. The law of Nigeria
says there is no independent candidate. Even if I,
Amaechi, Peterside withdraw, APC will carry on with
the case.
“The funny thing about the young man is that he
knows I know him. I was his governor, I have
documents to show that he is a contractor. I am not
a thief; so I don’t know what this young man is
talking about.”
The former governor, who accused INEC, SSS, Army and
militants of conniving to rob the APC of victory in the last
gubernatorial election in the state, said he and his party
will continue to fight until they get justice from the court.

Chief Keef: Fan Flashes Boobs At Rapper During Concert
Getty
Peek-a-boob! Chief Keef sure got an eyeful
when he was performing at a show in Orange
County on Aug. 27. A wild fan flashed her
boobs at the rapper during his set and he was
totally taken aback! Click inside to see the
hilarious video.
Chief Keef , 20, was left speechless after a female fan at
his Orange County show on Aug. 27 decided to lift up her
shirt and flash her boobs — literally right before he was
about to rap! The “Love Sosa” rapper becomes so flustered,
he actually forgets the lyrics to his own song.
So here’s what goes down. The fan was very eager for a
good front row view during the concert, so she stands on a
barricade. Well, Chief Keef shouts “whatever you do, don’t
fall girl.” Clearly amused that he acknowledged her, the
fan lifts up her shirt and completely exposes her bare
boobs to the rapper as the audience goes wild with
cheers. The best part is when the music begins for “I Ain’t
Done Turnin Up” and he stands on stage with a bewildered
look on his face and forgets to start the song. Hmm… his
mind was definitely elsewhere after what went down!
The Chicago-born rapper recently welcomed his son Sno
FilmOn Dot Com Cozart, named after his record label in an
attempt to promote his upcoming Sept. 18 album.
Unfortunately, he is going through a paternity dispute with
baby mama Lauren Woods. “In light of new developments
disputing that Chief Keef is the father of Baby Sno, the
streaming TV and music platform FilmOn.com is retracting
the right to let the mother, Lauren Woods, use the middle
name FilmOn Dot Com until paternity is settled. We wish Ms.
Woods all the best,” Alki David said according to ABC. The
rapper is also the father of Kayden, Krüe and Kimora .
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers ? Do you think Chief
Keef’s reaction to being flashed is funny? Let us know!

17 year old boy charged with raping a 9year old family friend since the age of 3
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with raping a nine-
year-old family friend at a state fair.
Jonathan Fleming was arrested at the Maryland State
Fairgrounds after the victim's father became concerned
when he saw the pair together.
An investigation by the Crimes Against Children Unit alleges
that Fleming has been sexually abusing the girl since she
was about 3 years old.
The girl reportedly told police that Fleming has forced her
several times a year to engage in sex acts at different
fairs in Maryland and elsewhere.
She claims he touched her inappropriately at the Cow
Palace before moving to a more secluded area, including a
trailer owned by the Fleming family.
Fleming allegedly forced her to perform various sex acts,
including intercourse.
The girl's father notified police after being warned by a
farmer who became concerned when he saw Fleming and
the girl at the Swine Barn, police said.
Fleming has been charged with 2nd degree rape, 2nd
degree sexual offense, perverted practice, fourth degree
sexual assault and second degree assault.
He is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center
on $500,000 bond.
The investigation into the allegations of prior abuse
remains ongoing.
Police have said additional charges are possible.

Former Pres. Jonathan and Diezani face probe over $6.9m campaign stages
The ongoing probe of former Pres Jonathan's
administration by President Muhammadu Buhari is to find
out the dealings behind the alleged purchase of 3 mobile
stages, that cost $6.9m, Presidency source has said.
According to a document, which was obtained from the
Presidency on Saturday, the deal, which is now a subject of
investigation, was allegedly carried out by Jonathan; his
Chief Security Officer, Mr. Gordon Obuah; and former
Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The fund was said to have been withdrawn from one of the
numerous accounts of the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation, NNPC, for the purpose of buying 3 pieces of
40-feet mobile stages for use by Jonathan during mass
public speaking events.
According to the document, apart from the fact that the
sum for the stages was “incredibly inflated”, there is
currently no evidence that the stages were bought since the
money was withdrawn.
The document read"
“While the cost of mobile stages ranges in sizes and
designs, only outlandish rock star musicians in
Europe and the US spend hundreds of thousands on
their huge stages way bigger than the 40-feet
stages.
“Even then, those musicians and superstars would
not pay over $2m per stage, according to industry
sources.
“The process of procurement of the three mobile
stages was neither known to extant Nigerian laws
and due process regulations nor were the offices of
the Auditor-General and the Accountant-General
in the know, according to the investigators.”
It added that the phony purchase was carried out in late
2011, a few months after Jonathan won the presidential
election for a full term after having completed the term of
the late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
Jonathan’s CSO was said to have initiated a memo to the
former President on October 17, 2011, asking for the
purchase of three mobile stages.
He was reported to have written in that memo to Jonathan
that memo referred to “my earlier discussion with Your
Excellency on the security implication of your public
appearances and your subsequent directive on the need to
procure a secured presidential platform.”
The Presidency source said on the same day, without any
financial advice or purchase order reviews, the former
President approved the request to buy the three stages and
minuted the memo to the then Minister for Petroleum
Resources.
In his minute, Jonathan was said to have written, “We have
discussed this, please deal.”
According to the document, on the same October 17, the
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administrative
Matters, Mr. Matt Aikhionbere, did another letter on the
strength of the President’s approval requesting the
minister to take action on the request to purchase the
stages for $6.9m.
It added, “By the next month, an NNPC payment voucher,
number 3840336, was already in place, revealing that the
money was released.
“NNPC directed that the money be taken from one
of its accounts in New York CITIBANK with sort code
CITIUS 33, and Routing number 021000089.
“It was first routed from the US bank to an NNPC
account in Zenith Bank account number
5000026593, Maitama branch in Abuja, from where
the money was sent to a private account.
“The sum of $6.9m was then credited to a Sterling
Bank account of one J. Marine Logistics Limited,
Abuja, a company investigators said was registered
by Obuah.
“The CSO himself, according to investigators, has
not been able to show proof of the purchase and his
memo irked his bosses at the SSS that he took the
initiative to write requesting for the stages, an
action which officials said was way above his pay
grade.”
“The former President approved the procurement
of the mobile platforms without due process and
bypassing the Procurement Act; neither was there
an appropriation in the 2011 budget for such
facility,” the document quoted investigators as
saying.
It added that neither the then Minister of Finance nor the
Director-General of the Budget Office was aware of the
deal.
“Investigators say this is just one of the several
instances, where the Jonathan administration used
secret NNPC accounts to fund many questionable
projects and for alleged personal financial
aggrandisement.
“Already, the CSO has been questioned over his role
and activities in the Jonathan Presidency. It will be
recalled that he was arrested, detained,
questioned and later released.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic
Party, Chief Olisa Metuh is set to respond to the
allegations.

D’banj fell in love and proposed at a concert, see who the lucky girl is and how he did it (Photos)
Famous Lagos crooner, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo
popularly know as D’banj fell in love at an event
hosted by Globacom in honor of Prof. Wole Soyinka.
The event which held at Eko Hotel, was hosted to
celebrate the literary icon popularly known as Kongi,
however the event turned out to be a specially for
D’banj who was billed as star performer for the
night, as the Koko Master fell in love with a hot
Brazilian lady.
Just when everyone thought that the event hosted by
Glo had come to an end, as announced by the
compere of the night Richard Mofe Damejo, D’banj
set the stage ablaze with the old songs which made
the world fall in love with his music.
He thrilled the crowd endlessly and wanted to add
more spice to the awesome event, so he called up
some ladies to join him on the podium. Unknowing to
him, the sweet ladies were from Brazil. The ladies
who came with their mom had earlier made the
evening an emotional one when their mom told Wole
Soyinka that she and indeed the world were great
full for his existence.
The dance on stage began and the amazing looking
lady from Brazil used her lovely skills to win the Koko
Masters heart. So much that he went down to meet
her mother who was amid the crowd to seek her
permission to marry her daughter.
With the aid of a crowd that where drunk with the
flow of the former Mo-Hit records star, D’banj
engaged the Brazilian girls mother in a dance and
she rocked the star like non had ever seen before. It
was only at the end of the dance that she told
everyone she was 65years of age, a revelation that
brought the roofs down in rancorous applause.
It was at this time that the amazing performer,
“Osina nwata buru ogaranya” obliged the crowd to
join him in seeking the Brazilian lady’s hand by
singing one of his favorite songs-Omo you don make
me fall in love. The pictures tell better the story of
what went down at the conference hall of Eko Hotel.
The night with Soyinka, put together by Globacom was
a great night of many expositions, as the literati
himself revealed a lot not just about himself but
about the nation and its rulers. One major thing
Kongi as he is fondled called, made known was the
fact that Obasanjo is a liar and a man that holds no
great import as long as he (Soyinka is concerned).

I Wanted To Be A Medical Doctor, But Poverty Stopped My Dream – Seyi Law
Seyi Law may not have become as popular as he is
today. In fact, it was actually lack of funds that
pushed him to turn to comedy as a last resort.
In a recent chat with Saturday Beats, Seyi Law said
he actually got admission to study Medicine twice, but
he couldn’t pursue his dream because there was no
money to finance his education.
“I didn’t plan to be a comedian; it was my cousin
who saw the talent in me and felt I could do it.
When I started out in August, 2005; he introduced
me on stage for the first time. And at a point, I
just decided to make it a career. I wanted to be a
medical doctor. A lot of my colleagues would tell
you I was brilliant in the line of science. I even got
admission to study Medicine twice. But then, it was
at the point when we had financial challenges and
it was so difficult for me to continue running the
admission. I remember I started attending cla
$$es at one particular point but I had to pull back
eventually to start contributing to the sustenance
of the family with menial jobs that I did to earn
stipends. But thank God for what we have today.”
“I knew that if I was going to really succeed in this
business, I had to remain relevant for the first ten
years, and by the special grace of God, the dream
has come true. Even after the first 10 years now,
we are still going to do greater things. Winning two
awards just a week after my ten years celebration
means that it can only get better.”

Lady Gaga: See The First Photo Of Her In ‘American Horror Story’ Premiere
Prepare to get the chills! The very
first photo of Lady Gaga as The Countess on
‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ is finally here
and it’s giving us the creeps! Gaga sure makes
for one haunting hotel owner… See the pic
here!
Who’s ready to check into American Horror Story: Hotel this
fall? While co-creator Ryan Murphy has been teasing a
few clues about what to expect, he also revealed the very
first still of Lady Gaga , 29, in her haunting role as The
Countess on Aug. 28. Let’s just say it’s Gaga like you’ve
never seen before!
Lady Gaga is that you? Ryan tweeted a shadowy still of
the “Bad Romance” singer in full costume from the first
episode. “The Countess is bringing back The Turban in a
major way,” Ryan tweeted. Hmm.. is there a reason she’s
wearing a turban? Could she be hiding something? (Hey,
you’ve got to question everything on AHS. ) Either way, one
thing’s clear — she sure gives off a spooky vibe!
Her lips are also red in the picture, a contrast to the white
she wears. One thing we do know about Gaga’s character is
that she drinks the blood of people — but don’t get her
confused with a vampire. A bloody Gaga graced the cover
of Entertainment Weekly, and Ryan shared that while she
drinks blood, there are no “capes and fangs” and
it’s more “a form of hemophilia.” Interesting!
The Countess also has quite a few lovers, including Donovan
( Matt Bomer ) and Tristan ( Finn Wittrock) that like her,
crave human blood. She will have had a past romance with
Ramona ( Angela Bassett ), who teams up with Donovan to
get revenge on her. Judging from the look of The Countess
though, they might want to watch out!
AHS: Hotel also stars Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson , Kathy
Bates, Angela Bassett , Wes Bentley , Max Greenfield , Lily
Rabe and more. The season will premiere on Oct. 7 on FX.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers ? Do you think Gaga will
be your favorite AHS character? Tell us below!

Michael Jackson: Shawn Mendes & More Celebs Remember Him On 57th Birthday
Happy birthday to the King of Pop!
Michael Jackson would have turned 57 on Aug.
29, but just because he’s gone, he’s certainly not
forgotten. Celebs like Shawn Mendes, Paula

Photo of the 72 year old carpenter Fayose made caretaker of a LGA
Above is the photo of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state
and the 72 year old carpenter, Pa Olatunde Afolayan, who
appointed as the caretaker chairman of Moba Local
Government. While appointing him yesterday August 28th,
Fayose said;
"In my government, whether you are educated or
not, you will get something. The vote of a professor
and an illiterate is the same. So, under my
administration, those who are not educated can
rise to any level they want.”
Responding, Pa Afolayan said
"I have never gone to school for a day, but that
does not diminish my intelligence. I may not be
educated or certificated, but I have the experience
to pilot the affairs of the council. I promise to
surpass the records left behind by my predecessors
to justify Governor Fayose’s assertion that local
people are intelligent and visionary.”.
3 Aljazeera journalists sentenced to 3yrs in prison by Egyptian court
Mohamed Fahmy, Baher Mohamed and Peter Greste were
today Saturday August 29th sentenced to three years in
prison for ;operating without a press license & broadcasting
material harmful to Egypt.'
The verdict in a retrial was issued against Mohamed
Fahmy, a naturalized Canadian who has given up his
Egyptian citizenship, Baher Mohamed, an Egyptian, and
Australian Peter Greste, who was deported in February
and sentenced in absentia.
Egyptian judge Hassan Farid said he issued his ruling
because the three weren't registered with the country's
journalist syndicate. He also added that the journalists
brought equipment without the approval of security
officials into Egypt, as well as spread 'false news' and used
a hotel as a broadcasting point without permission.
Reacting to the verdict which sparked international outcry,
the acting director general of the Qatar-based news
network, Mostefa Souag said in a statement:
"Today's verdict defies logic and common sense.
Our colleagues Baher Mohamed and Mohamed
Fahmy will now have to return to prison, and Peter
Greste is sentenced in absentia. Today's verdict is
yet another deliberate attack on press freedom. It
is a dark day for the Egyptian judiciary; rather
than defend liberties and a free and fair media
they have compromised their independence for
political reasons.”

Nigeria Economy worse In 90 days of APC – PDP
Below is a press statement from the PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decries as
alarming, the damage so far done on the nation’s
economy by the President Buhari-led All
Progressives Congress (APC) since it took office at
the center, three months ago. The party said the
shambolic state of the nation’s economy within the
period, which represents the worst in the nation’s
contemporary history, is a direct fallout of
uncertainty created by the inability of the Buhari-
led government to chart a clear-cut economic
policy, worsened by abuse of regulations, and
flagrant violation of constitutional provisions.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh,
in a statement on Saturday said instead of gains,
official reports show that the last three months
under the APC-led government have brought a
sudden decline in the nation’s Gross Domestic
Product (GDP), with attendant losses and hardship
to the citizens, while the government embarks on
propaganda of imaginary achievements, in
addition to attempts to foist harsh economic regime
to cover its ineptitude.
“If not for crass incompetence or a possible ulterior
motive to subjugate Nigerians for selfish reasons,
what else explains the adamant stance of this
administration in running a government without the
statutory components of a full cabinet and precise
fiscal policy direction, even when the negative
consequences of this strange totalitarian approach
are taking serious toll on the economy and the polity
in general?
“Whereas the APC led government is busy with its
propaganda of imaginary achievements, official
reports from the National Bureau of Statistics show
that that the economy is being grounded with
Nigeria’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
plunging with about 2.35%, while job creation has
dropped by 69 percent.
“In the last three months under an inept and
poorly coordinated APC-led government, our
nation’s economy, which before now, held the
record as the largest in Africa and one of the
fastest growing in the world, suddenly plummeted
as officially evidenced in the lull in the capital and
money market sectors which have lost billions of
naira; spiral rate of inflation, and stagnation in
domestic and foreign direct investments, with
investors scared away due to the uncertainty
arising from lack of economic direction and
apparent confusion in the polity.
“This is in addition to the halt in infrastructure
development projects in most parts of the country
with associated massive job loss, closure of auxiliary
small scale businesses, low purchasing power of
citizens, among other negatives that have bedeviled
the economy since the coming of this government,
despite the much APC celebrated promissory notes
from the President’s diplomatic shuttles, especially
his recent visit to the United States.
“Nigerians would recall that we recently raised
alarm on the negative consequences of the recent
foreign exchange transaction restrictions, wherein
this government is making it impossible for honest
Nigerians to engage in free trade and regulate
their personal activities as guaranteed by the
constitution.
“We also warned about the consequences of foisting
a communist economic regime with bans and
clampdowns on free trade and the freedom of
Nigerians to freely open and operate domiciliary
accounts as provided by the Foreign Exchange
Monitoring And Miscellaneous Provisions Act,
otherwise known as Decree No. 17 of 1995 and
wondered whether the nation was not heading back
to the era of import duty licenses and regulation of
commodity prices.“Only recently, Fitch Rating,
which, under the previous administration, affirmed
Nigeria's long-term foreign and local currency IDRs
as well as senior unsecured bond and Short-term
foreign currency IDR ratings respectively at 'BB”s,
had now alerted that Nigerian banks and other
businesses in the sector would be adversely affected
by the economic slowdown occasioned by the
incompetence of the President Buhari-led APC
government.
“This is more so as the absence of ministers have
left the coordination of important government
policies in ministries, departments and agencies in
tatters, while creating loopholes for overzealous
persons claiming closeness to the President to
invade the system for inflated concessions,
allocations, jobs and other financial sleazes,
including misleading the President for approvals
outside his limits.
“We invite Nigerians to note that whereas the
Presidency has gone ahead to unilaterally deplete
the funds inherited in the Excess Crude Account
(ECA) and other government savings, as well as
reports of engaging in discussions with the World
Bank for loans without recourse to appropriate
statutory arms of government, no corresponding
improvement has been witnessed in the economy.
Indeed, we are worried that the damage already
done in the last 90 days may linger with us for
years to come.
“Nigerians are no longer in doubt that they have
been scammed with long list of empty promises
which the APC government has no intentions or
capacity to fulfill. The free meals for school
children, allowances for discharged Corps Members,
N5,000 monthly allowance for indigent Nigerians,
free houses, bringing the dollar to the same value
as the naira and other bogus promises for which
they were voted into power, have become streams of
mirage.
Instead, what we continue to witness is the outworn
excuse of clearing the so-called Augean Stable,
loud propaganda and artful move to appropriate
the achievements made by the PDP-led
administration; such as the effort in ending polio,
the improvement in power supply, the reopening of
the refineries, among others which are a dividend
from numerous investments by the previous
administrations.
“Finally, we state categorically that Nigerians are
becoming tired and weary of the diversions and
propaganda of creating imaginary achievements,
dramatization of routine appointments, offering
mundane excuses for crass incompetence and
orchestrating a selective and witch-hunt of anti-
corruption crusade.
Signed:
Chief Olisa Metuh
